Alight Solutions is seeking an individual to participate in the design, development, deployment, and support of Health Navigation applications and web properties supporting business units, with emphasis on supporting the Client Success organization.
Working from specifications and pre-established guidelines, he or she designs and builds quality solutions meeting the stated functional and technical requirements. This individual will be independently aligned and report into IT Operations, working in conjunction with other engineering teams.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our dynamic team. The QA Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through comprehensive testing, identifying issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions to our customers. The ideal candidate should possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch software.


Responsibilities:

Test Planning and Strategy:

  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and design test strategies.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on functional and technical specifications.

Test Execution:

  • Execute manual and automated tests to identify software defects, inconsistencies, and usability issues.
  • Conduct exploratory testing to uncover unforeseen problems and potential areas of improvement.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure that software changes do not adversely affect existing functionality.

Bug Tracking and Reporting:

  • Identify, document, and report bugs and issues using issue tracking systems.
  • Provide clear and detailed information to developers for effective issue resolution.
  • Log prospective enhancements when opportunities for improvement are identified during testing, even when out-of-scope for the currently-prioritized work.

Automation and Tools:

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate testing frameworks and tools.
  • Continuously improve and expand the test automation suite to cover new features and functionality.
  • Ensure results of automated test executions are understandable and actionable to support efficient remediation of failures.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with development teams to understand the technical aspects of the software and assist in reproducing and diagnosing issues.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure clear understanding of requirements and testing objectives.
  • Collaborate with shared-service colleagues for performance testing.

Quality Advocacy:

  • Act as a quality advocate, participating in design and code reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide input into the development process to prevent defects and improve overall product quality.
  • Understand dependencies across apps and services to assess and mitigate risks.

Process Improvement:

  • Contribute to the enhancement of QA processes, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency gains in the testing process.
  • Own the implementation of proposed improvements.

Documentation:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to testing procedures, test cases, and results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer or similar role in software development.
  • Proficiency in manual and automated testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with programming languages and scripting (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript).
  • Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, TestComplete, Tosca, Functionize) and version control systems.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and the ability to incorporate containerized testing into the QA process.
  • Strong understanding of API testing concepts and hands-on experience in testing RESTful APIs.
  • Functional Knowledge of tools like Postman or Swagger for API testing.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Thrives working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • ISTQB or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate’s experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $88,200.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $140,700.00/year (for full time employees). In addition to a base salary, this position may be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentive plans.
