About the Role:

The Role: Consulting Associate Director, Chemicals, Brazil with Focus on Business Development. For this position, we foresee a strong focus on identifying and securing opportunities for our chemical consulting business, mainly in Brazil but also in the rest of the Latin American region, but we regard the Candidate’s ability to support and execute consulting work as a significant added value.

The Team: Our Chemicals consulting team converts their knowledge, insights, and analysis along with S&P’s knowledge base into sustainable, profitable S&P bespoke consulting services. As Consulting Associate Director with a focus on business development , marketing S&P Chemical Consulting services to grow the business in the region is essential to this role. Himself/herself being regarded as an expert in the industry, and having the experience and resources to support our consulting work in the Americas is desirable, and a plus.

The Impact: The role plays a pivotal role in advancing our consulting / advisory business in Latin America and particularly in Brazil through:

  • The identification and pursuit of consulting opportunities that include the development of winning proposals. This is a key role.

  • The provision of bespoke consulting services, including management of consulting projects as well as delivery of engagements to clients. This is a desirable role.

  • Must be able to work independently in the negotiation and execution of consulting engagements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop bespoke chemical consulting business in Latin America, chiefly in Brazil.

  • Pursue new leads generated from various channels and turn them into consulting engagements.

  • Prepare high-quality single-client proposals. This requires clear written and verbal communication skills and analytical creativity to determine deliverables that best serve client needs and budget, and maximize the service which S&P can provide.

  • Manage the full chain from client relationship building, opportunity identification, proposal development, the closing of sale, and the delivery of work.

  • Lead and support consulting engagements such as market studies, feasibility studies, competitiveness analysis, strategic planning, and due diligence review.

  • Manage and support delivery on all aspects of consulting engagements.

  • Project management responsibilities require that the candidate manages the analysis and project report generation required to satisfy single-client projects.

  • Consulting Associate Directors are also required to lead project teams and to independently perform all analytical work needed to deliver successful engagement to the client.

  • Be able to summarize findings into concise presentations/reports and deliver/present findings to clients.

  • Mentor and guide analytical and staff support in a team environment.

  • Maintain general knowledge of various chemical sectors (petrochemicals including olefins, aromatics, plastics, chloralkali; fertilizers, specialty chemicals, end users, and renewables) for interaction with clients.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process technologies will be an added advantage.

  • Cooperatively work across the organization at multiple levels to utilize the resources and knowledge base efficiently and effectively, a strong team player.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Ten years+ of consulting experience, ideally with a major international chemical consulting firm or equivalent years in a business planning, business development, Marketing and sales, and/or strategy development position within the chemical industry.

  • Proven experience in managing large and complex consulting studies.

  • To qualify as an ideal candidate, you should be a fluent Portuguese and English Language speaker. Spanish Language skills are a plus.

  • Good knowledge of the chemical producers and industry in Brazil and prior relationship with key decision makers and stakeholders of the industry.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Chemical Engineering, Chemistry bachelor’s degree or Bachelor in Business Administration with an MBA (finance, marketing, and/or strategy) a major plus

  • Being Fluent in English & and Portuguese Language is a strong necessity

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Proficient public speaker

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

  • Personable interface at multiple levels within a client’s organization.

  • Ability to travel (including international travel)

  • Ability to travel extensively within Brazil. Travel requirements will vary depending on client situations.
