Apply locations Sao Paulo time type Full time posted on Posted 2 Days Ago job requisition id R-745465Head of Brasil, Managing Director is responsible for implementing the strategic and business direction of State Street Brasil S.A. in accordance with the State Street Brasil S.A. by laws and for leading and managing State Street Brasil S.A. with the goal of prudently achieving its business strategy. Represent State Street Brasil S.A. before third parties and assume commitments and obligations on behalf of State Street Brasil S.A.
This involves leading other Heads and certain key employees in the day-to-day running of State Street Brasil S.A. business, and communicating the decisions and/or recommendations of the Head to the shareholders of the State Street Brasil S.A. and, broadly, to State Street.
Be responsible before the Central Bank of Brazil for certain areas of State Street Brasil S.A., as required by the CMN and the Central Bank of Brazil’s rules and regulations.
Role specifics
Develop and monitor the business strategies, plans and budgets aligned with corporate goals for both FX Sales & Trading
Ensure that the business has the right resources, including staff, IT, financial and oversight functions to operate effectively
Ensure that the business operates in compliance with internal and external regulations, risk management and that escalation procedures are followed
Promote strong and effective governance, challenge and debate, and there is clear knowledge of internal governance and risk management concepts
Represent State Street Brasil S.A. before third parties
Participate in Management Committees in State Street Bank & Trust, present and discuss materials as appropriate
Managerial
Demonstrate the ‘Risk Excellence’ culture in its behaviour
Maintain a detailed understanding of:
The scope of the role’s managerial responsibilities
The competence of the staff reporting to you
Carry out regular business analysis of management reports and KPI’s
Ensure that the team has clear understanding of their reporting lines, authority levels, scope of responsibilities (including those delegated to them and those they delegate), objectives, training and competency requirements plus progress is reviewed regularly in line with Company policy, and are regulatory registered where appropriate for their role
Develop effective working relationships and communications with staff and ensure that staff are motivated, developed and supported.
Establish and monitor systems of control, delegated authority and escalation procedures so that the business complies with internal policies and external regulations and can be managed effectively
Establish and monitor an effective oversight framework to ensure that issues are appropriately identified, escalated and resolved. This includes: a) ensuring that appropriate management information is received, considered and challenged as appropriate at intervals proportionate to the risks; and b) that staff members have clear understanding of the escalation path/principles
Establish and nurture a culture of ‘Risk Excellence’ within the team, encourage an environment of openness that welcomes effective challenge and supports open discussion.
Ensure that reasonable decisions by exercising reasonable care when considering information available
Ensure that the highest level of the Code of Conduct is displayed in its own and staff behaviour.
What we are looking for
15+ years of experience in financial services industry and executive management roles
Knowledge of the Brazilian Financial Market, including key players, competitive landscape, regulators, products and services
Fluent in English and Portuguese
Must have the necessary competence, risk excellence mindset and business, financial and technical skills, as applicable, to perform its role and have a sound knowledge of the business
Knowledge of internal governance and risk management concepts
Experienced in banking and financial services
Complementary commercial backgrounds, relationships and other useful and relevant experience which promotes independent challenge and debate
Excellent communication and relationship skills
Leadership skills
High level of commercial awareness
Understanding of financial management and wider management techniques and skills
Team management skills
