The Datavant People team is seeking to add an innovative, strategic, and transformational People Operations Leader to its growing team. This role will be an integral part of our People team and a key contributor to significant organization-wide initiatives. This position will have responsibility for building and leading a new People Operations function. Specifically, the Head of People Operations is responsible for establishing, implementing, and improving People procedures, processes, and systems to maximize the employee experience and the effectiveness of the people team. This role is broadly responsible for designing and implementing best-in-class operational infrastructure, processes, and compliance. You will take ownership and continue the development of our newly implemented Oracle HCM platform and lead the transformation of Tier 0 and Tier 1 employee support. The People Ops team will also take the lead in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment policies, laws, and regulations. As they build the people ops foundation, they will seek to collaborate across the company to deliver exceptional employee experience through continuously streamlining and automating processes, establishing and meeting strong SLAs, and employee-centered design thinking.

You Will

  • Assess the nascent People Operations infrastructure (policies, processes, procedures systems, and team), then develop and implement improvements by applying best practices to improve effectiveness.
  • Deep understanding of the employee journey and lifecycle while fostering a positive and inclusive work culture, driving employee engagement, retention, and development.
  • Proven Track Record: Experience and success in driving the People Operations teams for companies of a similar size and scale and an understanding of how to build for the next stage of our growth
  • You will build and lead our People OPs function, ensuring that our people practices align with our company's mission and values
  • Be both a strategic and hands-on partner who is comfortable setting annual strategy as well as troubleshooting process issues against deadlines.
  • You will assess, develop, and recommend process improvement initiatives to enhance staff support and maximize the effectiveness of Datavant’s internal People team operations.
  • Project Management: Ability to multitask and efficiently handle sensitive competing priorities, delegating when necessary while being highly organized, detail-oriented, and having great time management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment policies, laws and regulations, (e.g., EEO, FLSA, FMLA, Employee Handbook, Employment Agreements.).
  • Provide partnership and guidance of Datavant’s onboarding process to continually enhance the onboarding experience.s.
  • Prepare the annual budget for People Ops and partner with the Chief People Officer and FP&A on all initiatives and projects for People Ops to ensure adequate funding.
  • Collaborate and provide guidance to execute best practices related to the employee lifecycle, supporting employee retention and engagement, and retaining the best talent.
  • Build and maintain trusted, mutually respectful relationships with senior leadership, managers, and employees.
  • Drive excellence through data analysis and capturing critical HR metrics while staying abreast of emerging trends and best practices.
  • Support functional team members in preparing for and facilitating leadership conversations.
  • Lead planning for meetings, facilitation of agenda, preparing content, tracking key actions, and documenting decisions and actions; drive clarity in conversations to confirm actions, owners, and due dates.
  • Partner with Payroll to improve processes and ensure system compliance

What you will bring to the table:

  • 10-15 years of in People Ops and related roles with management experience (preference for Operations, Compliance) with deep expertise in and passion for policy/process development and program delivery.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and mentorship skills to create upward mobility and career paths within the function.
  • Strong understanding of HCM Systems and Technology. Experience with Oracle HCM preferred.
  • Experience in designing and implementing change management
  • Solid knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and benefits regulations.
  • Solid understanding of privacy laws. Working knowledge of employment law (multi-state or global)
  • Superior communication skills: both written and oral, including the ability to effectively communicate with and present to senior leadership.
  • Sound judgment and discretion; able to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Bonus points if:

  • Master’s degree (longer experience may be substituted for degree).
  • Strong systems and business process design experience and leadership
  • Strong analytic skills with the ability to compile, research, and analyze information and then draw insights and influence data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with M&A due diligence and post-M&A activities
  • Experience in building People Operations internationally

The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job. The estimated salary range for this role is $225,000-$300,000.
