Purpose of the Job

We are seeking an exceptional, highly committed and results driven Human Resources Manager (HRM). We are true to our values, which drive us to work as one team globally, trusting and supporting each other to accomplish our ambitious goals. The focus of this role will be to support the Global HR Director (UK-based), Country Director (Brazil) and to deliver people management strategies for Brazil in support of the organisation’s strategic aims. The role will have both a strategic and an operational focus and as well as being a key leader in the Brazil team you will also be a key member of the Global HR team. You will provide expert advice and support on all HR matters, ensuring alignment with our wider global Oxitec HR program while being true to local practices and compliant with the local legislation. This professional will report to the HRD based in the UK and support the Managing Director in Brazil, playing an important role in facilitating Oxitec’s rapid growth and expansion in Brazil. 

Responsibilities

You will serve as a link between Oxitec’s business strategy and our people management. You will act as a role model and be a trusted and respected partner to the business always demonstrating the Oxitec Values and Principles. You will assess and anticipate HR-related needs; deliver value added services to management and employees based on best practice, reflecting the business objectives of the organization; seek to develop integrated solutions with the business units and provide end to end HR services including, but not limited to benefits, compensation, HR compliance, employee satisfaction and engagement, performance management, talent acquisition and Learning and Development.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be positive, pro-active, empathetic, creative, fast-moving, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting innovative people, businesses and products and their growth and expansion to the market. You need to have the ability to work autonomously and equally be a strong team player who is willing to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. You will shape up how our company expresses its values, principles, technologies, and programs to all members of the growing Oxitec community, while also managing the routine and general HR processes supported by our Global HR team. The main responsibilities of the HRM, Brazil are: 

Key Responsibilities:

Overall:

· Support the Global HRD, Managing Director (Brazil) and work in close partnership with management to prepare and implement HR strategy. 

· Regular monitoring and reporting on HR metrics and Objectives and Key Results.

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

● Lead the end-to-end recruitment process, including job posting, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.

● Develop and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies, universities, and professional networks to attract top talent.

● Collaborate with managers to identify workforce needs and plan for future staffing requirements.

Employee Relations:

● Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.

● Implement and enforce company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current labour laws and regulations.

Performance Management:

● Oversee the performance appraisal process, offering training and coaching to supervisors and managers on performance feedback and improvement plans.

● Assist in developing and maintaining a performance evaluation system that fosters employee growth and development.

Training and Development:

● Collaborate with managers to identify training needs and in collaboration with the Global HR team and design learning and development programs, including the leadership progam.

● Organize and deliver learning and development sessions on various HR topics and company policies.

Compensation and Benefits:

● Manage and administer employee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive and fair compensation packages.

● Keep abreast of industry trends to make recommendations for improvements in compensation and benefits packages.

● Oversee payroll and related activities.

HR Policies and Compliance:

● Develop, update, and communicate HR policies, ensuring they are consistent with local labour laws and company objectives.

● Stay up-to-date with labour laws and regulations in Brazil and ensure the organization's compliance.

Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements

· 10+ Years HR Experience, preferably in innovative companies and start-ups. 

· Ideally, 3 years leading and managing/supporting an HR team.

· A strong HR Generalist with working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational development, employee relations, benefits, diversity, equity and inclusion, change management, performance management, learning and development, talent attraction and retention and respective Brazilian employment laws. 

· Experience of developing and facilitating learning and development content.

· Experience working in multi-cultural environments in a global business with virtual teams. 

· Native Portuguese and fully fluent English in both written and oral communications.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.

· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

· HR project management and change management. 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certification is a bonus.
  • Proficiency in HR software (ideally BambooHR and Workday Peakon), Teams, SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite.
