QUALIFICATIONS:

Highly dedicated and goal-focused professional.

Pricing and Procurement experience.

History of success in ocean import and export business development, operational background, market intelligence.

Drive the strategy for the Ocean business on a country level. Self-motivated and high performing in a competitive marketplace.

Have the ability to work under pressure and time management skills.

Driving productivity improvement within the team.

FCL and LCL Experience – Reefer, 4PL and Bulk are desirable. 

Negotiation skills.

Support and engage M&S to cope on profitable growth. 

Develop relationship with strategic and core vendors aligned with global strategy (Carriers, coloader, terminal) 

Support operation with the vendors to make sure SLAs are respected.

Experience in freight forwarding industry focused on customer service and business development.

Fluent in English, desirable Spanish knowledge.

Objective:

Ocean Import/Export commercial abilities Management

Tasks :     

Drive the strategy for Ocean business development with M&S

Bridge the Commercial to Operation to make sure that all conditions negotiated are organized and transparent to Operation

Manage Key Performance indicator (Hit rate, Trade performance, Pipeline, carrier management, etc) are performed aligned with the targets.

Manage margin per file/ TEU/ CBM.

Responsible for a team of professional managers, supervisors and analysts – senior and junior, managing day to day operational routines, customer agreements and financial reports.

Main responsibilities are:

- Manage team and keep them motivated;

- PnL Owner and driving the organization to achieve the Ocean Freight Budget;

- Lead, train, develop and motivate team members;

- Coordinate team members , ensuring adherence to local and global procedures;

- Support on handling operational deviations with shipping lines, co-loaders and terminals;

- File approval (loss or higher margins)  ;

- Engage M&S to promote Ocean products

- Periodic performance Meetings;

- Bid analysis and implementation;

- In depth knowledge of DGF’s Transport Management System and Reporting/Visibility tools;

- Ensure compliance with preferred carriers is maintained;

- Advise staff of changes to company policies and goals;

- Assign and monitor individual workloads, set completion dates, review work and manage performance in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and performance management processes.

Regularly interacts with internal personnel on issues of major significance, often requiring coordination between organizational units.

Consults with peers and top management in long-range company planning.

Stakeholder:   

Regularly interacts with contacts outside DHL on broader, more strategic issues.

Drives quality and customer service.

Prime spokesperson to external customers, industry groups, and/or professional associations.

Leads initiatives and processes for business/functional area within overall area of responsibility.

Manages Business development plans and activities that result in accomplishing business strategies. 

Supervises,  coordinates, and provides leadership to and reviews the work of senior professional level subordinates.  

Creates workforce and staffing plans and ensures availability of human capital necessary to accomplish planned business results.

People Management: 

Primary contribution is managing and develop team members. 

Leads a department via multiple levels of managers and supervisors or directly supervises a staff of professional individual contributors.

Directs performance planning, coaching, and evaluation.

Approves pay adjustments and promotions. 

Must supervise 4 or more employees.  

Skills: 

Has extensive depth and breadth of expertise and experience in business/functional area.  

A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of work supervised and practical application to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. 

Applies and/or develops highly advanced technologies, principles, theories and concepts.  

Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. 

Analyzes and resolves complex cross-functional issues.  

Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline and 3+ years’ experience in related field. 

Professional certification required in some areas.
