WHAT YOU'LL DO


As a Lead/Senior Knowledge Analyst within BCG’s Consumer Practice Area Knowledge Team you will be providing industry expertise in Consumer Goods Climate & Sustainability related topics and insights whilst working together with case teams to provide knowledge assets, analysis, and expert advisory. You will work with partner teams to support case work; conduct research, derive insights and analysis specific to the client question. You will actively prepare slides in client ready format; and work closely with the teams to refine them as required.

You will engage with Partner teams to understand white spaces and will be driving new IP/content/tools across the full suite of potential topics relevant for the consumer industry on environmental sustainability (FMCG industry focused on food, beverages, personal care, home care, etc.). You will work on commercialization efforts for the topic/sector, in conjunction with topic leaders, business leaders, supporting marketing efforts, conferences and publications. You’ll serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and topic/sector leaders, helping structure and solve complex issues.

The candidate is expected to have experience and knowledge in at least one or two from the following topics (in the context of FMCG industry only)

  • Sustainable supply chain; manufacturing operations, green supply chain transformation
  • Sustainable growth including portfolio strategy, product innovation, green business development.
  • Decarbonization strategies including packaging and circular economy; food systems transformation and/or sustainable agri practices

YOU'RE GOOD AT


Solving client problems through formulating relevant research and/or analytical approaches in sustainability within the Consumer topics. Additionally, we are looking at a candidate who is good at:

  • Formulating research and/or analytical approaches to help solve client problems and enable the case teams to address client queries based on expertise
  • Working independently and with a strong entrepreneurial thinking spirit; the candidate will need to develop a strong business-building focus to operate/influence effectively stakeholders in an international matrix organization
  • Applying advanced knowledge and technical skills to codify knowledge and maintaining proprietary assets, benchmarks and tools
  • Identify and own recurring analysis/dashboards; summarize and disseminate to leadership team and throughout the practice to implement it with other client teams
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders, in a credible and confident way; consulting skills and approach will be key to succeed in the role when supporting case teams.
  • Working collaboratively and effectively in a group dynamic often virtual, proficient in agile ways of working
  • Flexibility and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new things and able to propose innovative ideas and suggestions.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity.
  • Acting as buddy for more junior team members

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)


  • 3+ years consulting experience in Consumer Goods Sustainability required; candidates with consulting experience preferred
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 4+ years minimum industry experience required; 6-10+ years of industry experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience with other digital tools - Alteryx/Tableau or other business intelligence solutions for data analysis, visualization, cost modelling, and reporting
  • Fluency in English; other languages would be an advantage - French or German
  • Ability to handle defined work area, process or smaller project with minimal guidance
  • Excellent execution/ organizational/ communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven analytical capabilities and out-the-box
  • Highly professional, service oriented, pro-active and flexible attitude
  • Ability to perform under pressure and demonstrate presence and maturity even in stressful situations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


The Knowledge Team (KT) is a group of functional and/or industry experts leveraging deep domain knowledge to enable insight for case teams and clients. KT members are affiliated to BCG Practice Areas, plugged into the strategic agenda and building and deploying leading edge IP data tools/assets to deliver insight.

BCG's Knowledge Team members have the opportunity to be staffed on cases and help co-create insights with case teams and clients through expert perspectives on industry trends, delivery of proprietary data or tools in a particular function and complex research and analysis of market information. KT members also support the PA’s business development and proposals and help to organize and codify the knowledge that enables BCG to deliver superior business value for its clients.
