We are now looking for a Sales Proposal Engineer to join our Marine Sales team. In this position, you will report to the Manager Sales Proposals in Wärtsilä, and location of the position is in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, Brazil.

 

What you will be doing?

 

You are a motivated self-starter who will develop customized proposals from cost calculation to complete proposal to fit our customers' needs and support our Account/Sales Managers in capturing opportunities and turning them into sales. You participate in improving the visibility and proactivity towards our customers and internal stakeholders by optimizing the funnel management. You gain satisfaction when your team succeeds, and you truly enjoy developing other people's capabilities.
As a Sales Proposals Engineer in our Amer Marine Power Sales Team, you will be part of an international working environment where you will gain and develop in-depth know-how of lifecycle solutions for land-based power generation business. This would create an excellent basis for various future career possibilities within Wärtsilä. Our team is comprised of rich and diverse personalities all over the Americas. Main responsibilities:

  • Facilitating relationships with counterparts in product line responsible groups, acting as a value-added liaison to ensure a customer-centric and proactive approach.
  • Ensuring the transfer of knowledge on Wärtsilä Products and Services across the organization.
  • Taking responsibility for fostering profitable growth in all AMER Marine Power focus areas.
  • Enhancing the offering and order intake. Collaborating effectively with account managers, field service, and technical service teams to exceed customer expectations.
  • Proactively aligning and cooperating with Field Service and workshop teams.
  • Concentrating on synergies within product lines and the AMER team to provide proactive solutions for customers.
  • Managing CRM and improving sales funnel management for all opportunities.
  • Elevating proposal quality and expediting time to market.
  • Generating creative, out-of-the-box ideas for solutions to present to customers.
  • Fostering an operational excellence mindset and collaboration within the entire team and across all departments.
  • Timely response to RFPs from Account Managers and/or customers.
  • Actively and proactively promoting products and solutions from the portfolio to drive sales growth and profitability.
  • Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to promptly develop formal quotes/proposals for RFPs.
  • Overseeing the execution of RFPs upon customer acceptance.
  • Developing and delivering product and service presentations in conjunction with Global Marketing.
  • Capable of addressing both functional and technical elements of RFPs.
  • Effectively communicating customer requirements to Product Management teams.
  • Willingness to travel in the region as needed to co-create solutions and opportunities with customers.
  • Establishing positive channels of information with other organizations and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborating as a team member with the sales and delivery teams.
  • Professional written communication in responses to emails, RFPs, reports, and proposals.
  • Participation in and/or leading of customer meetings, both technically and commercially.
  • Capability to overcome sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  • Meeting KPIs and reporting relevant statistics to the Manager.
  • Understanding regional/group financial data to discern trends in the designated area of influence.
  • Close collaboration with various internal and external groups (e.g., Area Operations, HR, Agreements Sales, Agreements delivery, Product sales, Product Sales Support, Product Management, Field Services, etc.) required to produce a winning effort.

 

What it takes:

  • BSc in Engineer completed (Mechanical or Electrical is preferable);
  • Advanced English (written and spoken);
  • Intermediate Spanish (is a plus);
  • Experience in technical proposals;
  • Experience in oil & gas business;
  • Knowledge of regional market and awareness of cultural diversity;
  • Enjoy creating clear business value with a goal-oriented mind-set;
  • Drive results with excellent planning and remove obstacles for success;
  • Have a strong affection and interest in Sales, Sales support and have a good understanding of the Marine Power product portfolio;
  • Demonstrate Wärtsilä Purpose and demonstrate Wärtsilä values;
  • Knowledge in CRM (Slesforce will be considered a differencial)
  • Knowledge in SAP
  • Knowledge in Power BI is a plus

 

Skills:

  • Good communication - listen with good intention, appreciate feedback, and support people to grow.
  • Strong customer focus and capability of being part of building strategic relationships.
  • Good knowledge of Wärtsilä products and solutions (is a plus).
  • Organization skills - able to effectively manage a dynamic workload.
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Being a proactive individual.
