What you can expect from the role?

The Sales Strategy Director reports directly to the Vice President of Customer Development/Sales. This is a key strategic role, supporting short, medium and long-term decisions related to channel winning initiatives, as well as route to market design and priorities.  The strategic element is to translate CSP plans into channel or customer plans. They are key to bringing internal strategies or objectives into the external environment. They are also responsible for feeding back external elements into the internal environment. They also represent Customer Development related RTM projects and channel pricing competitiveness.

From a capability’s perspective, the role is central to co-ordination across multiple facets, including digital initiatives (B2C and B2B), drawing effectives commercial terms and counterparts’ agreements, business model operational programs to distributors, KPIs and assortment optimization through channels. The area is responsible for owning the P&L for digital sales, working in partnership with Finance team. They work closely with sub-functions within Customer Development (National Account Management, Shopper Marketing, CMI, Trade Category Management and Operations) as well as across large business functions (Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain).

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Analyzing market trends to both understand key drivers of revenue performance and growth potential;

  • Develop Joints Business Plans model and tools, integrating CSP community and Cust. Ops; providing customer plans, channel lens to brand JTBD; input into innovation / renovation business cases (e.g. pack size by channel, pricing, distribution & trade margins);

  • Develop Channel strategies incl. new (ecommerce, omni-channel) and traditional channels (e.g. TT Food, Drug, etc.) by geography to win in-store/online;

  • Develop structured investments and programs/incentives through commercial terms and counterparts;

  • Actively elaborate, specify, test and roll-out the strategic vision on new market driven business concepts, advanced technological solutions and sales support services with key customers to drive effectiveness and efficiency;

  • Optimize RTM strategies to cover the entire market in each channel and region;

  • Support pricing strategies, optimizing channel guardrails and competitiveness;

  • Responsible for managing P&L to digital routes (B2B and B2C), in partnership with Finance;

  • Develop assortment optimization for channels;

  • Manage relationships with National Retail Associations, and plan/execute Events related to each one;

  • Align strategic priorities across management team and support global priorities as needed;

  • Partner with other lines of business to jointly execute projects.

Does this sound like you?

  • Undergraduate degree required;

  • Track record management experience in Sales in FMCG industry;

  • Cross-functional experience in Supply chain, Finance considered a plus;

  • Strong interpersonal skills;

  • Strong financial aptitude;

  • Strong leadership and project management skills;

  • Strategic influencing and presentation skills;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Excellent computer skills;

  • High level of Business acumen;

  • Core skills: Sales, Finance & Business Acumen;

  • Other Skills: Channel Strategy, Customer Service Excellence, Trade Investment & Pricing.
