Job Title: Senior Business Development Manager, Southern Cone & Andres

Contract: Full time, permanent

The Role

The Business Development Manager, Southern Cone and Andes supports the region market teams to achieve budgeted revenue and contribution targets. Accountable for supporting the development, sign off for, and then implementation campaign plans to deliver agreed revenue targets and growth plans for the market.

The role will add value by identifying and pursuing business opportunities for both product lines (Learning and Assessment) and supporting Business Development teams to meet and exceed challenging revenue targets. Together with the Region Director, the Business Development Manager will need to stay ahead of market conditions and trends to develop, plan and implement sales promotion campaigns and plans that will deliver multiyear market revenue and contribution growth

The Business Development Manager is responsible for pursuing business opportunities regionally for both product lines (Assessment and Learning) via the development of partnerships with large-scale, public, and private-sector institutions and organizations in the territory. These include Ministries of Education, Higher Education institutions, corporates and major school/PLS chains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial: Responsible for the delivery of annual revenue targets agreed with regional director.
  • Business Development: Responsible for agreeing annual sales budgets with the regional Director, and then deliver them. Develop, implement, and manage Business Development and sales promotion campaigns. Develop three-year sales promotion plans.
  • Marketing: Work in collaboration with the Regional Head of Marketing to ensure Market teams and Marketing are aligned to meet targets.
  • Channel: Responsible for supporting commercial relationships with key stakeholders in the territory (Distributors and Exam centres). Support Operations teams to service, support, and supply key partners in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Compliance: Embody Cambridge University Press and Assessment values and ethics and ensure that all ethics and compliance policies are adhered to. Foster ethical behaviours within the market and ensure that any issues are reported as promptly and fully to global compliance colleagues.
  • Reporting: Responsible for keeping track of and managing revenue, revenue pipeline, and forecasts.
  • Leadership and people management:
    • Provide visible and strong leadership focused on the delivery of the learning and assessment revenue plans.
    • Create a team environment and conditions that allow for effective delegation, empowerment, and the delivery of results through others.
    • Identify, develop, and nurture talent
    • Support a team to ensure effective collaboration, joint working and decision making across the market and the wider Cambridge English organisation
    • Be a positive role model for the leadership characteristics as outlined in the organisations Leadership Model.

About You

Education

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant field or equivalent
  • Experience of successfully delivering Business Development and sales plans and targets in publishing and/or assessment.
  • Thorough understanding of Cambridge and competitors' ELT product ranges is an advantage
  • Thorough understanding of regional education markets

Skills

  • B2 or C1 level in both English and local language
  • Commercial awareness and acumen is essential.
  • Financially literate.
  • A team player who has proven track record of delivering revenue targets and driving Business Development opportunities to successful closure .
  • Highest standards of ethical behaviours and an ability to lead by example is essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to lead in a complex matrix organisation, influence collaboratively and make things happen.
  • Evidence of the ability to think strategically
  • Results-oriented professional
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent Presentation skills

Experience

  • Experience of managing sales and / or Business Development teams is essential
  • Demonstrable track record delivering revenue targets
  • Experience of working in publishing / assessment or a related field is highly desirable.
