We are looking for an experienced Planning professional to join our Project Controls team delivering the Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) HVDC project between Scotland and England.
In Project Controls, our goal is to ensure the right rigor around schedule and cost management processes to deliver projects on-time and within budget. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Builds the project baseline gaining approval of client and internal stakeholders

  • Maintains project schedule and resource forecasts throughout the project lifecycles

  • Analyses schedule and trends and communicates forecasted schedule risk to project team, drives risk mitigation proposals

  • Maintains a register of potential schedule and cost risks in collaboration with the Risk Manager

  • Checks and controls schedule movements, compares with current scope and progress as well as with previous forecast.  Also compares with productivity factors and validates accuracy of future task durations

  • Ensures that forecast task durations and logic are understood and committed by the task owners

  • Produces and communicates internal and external project reporting of project status

  • Leads collaboration with 3rd parties on project schedule interfaces including maintenance of an interface register

  • Presents all time schedule data in a transparent way, attends project and management reviews to present schedule status

  • Provides time related calculations to ensure change order schedule / cost estimates are accurate

  • Aligns with Cost Controller to ensure reconciliation between P6 schedule and approved cost phasing

  • Leads the team of Project Planning Engineers on large and complex projects

  • Takes full responsibility for the planning output for the assigned project(s) as part of the project controls function

  • Leads collaboration with functional task and resource owners to find strategies to reduce durations and manhours

  • Ensures efficiency and effectiveness of the project controls team

Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements

  • Degree qualified either in engineering or project management discipline

Desired Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience in planning large turnkey projects
  • Demonstrable experience leading on large & complex infrastructure projects
  • Expert Primavera P6 user (Essential)
  • Experience managing small teams within a large project
  • Knowledge of risk management processes and tools
  • Knowledge of cost control function and interface with schedule on large complex turnkey projects
  • Previous experience in building complex, integrated schedules for tenders
  • Experienced in applying forensic analysis on large and complex turnkey projects
