The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for the high availability and successful operation of our cloud platform, which includes building and supporting the tools, processes, and infrastructure that allows us to deliver and scale our business with high quality, consistency, and operational insight. Responsibilities:
- Develops, deploys, and maintains tools built from the ground up in support of self-service, quality, security, and compliance initiatives.
- Collaborate with the product, solutions architecture, QA, and engineering groups to build a self-sustaining world-class travel platform.
- Develops a comprehensive understanding of the applications and infrastructure within the environment and how they impact member experience, site performance, stability, and quality.
- Partners with software engineers, QA, solutions architecture, and technology leadership to understand operational strategy and then deliver against those expectations.
- Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the organization innovate and excel.
- Defines, manages, and reports against Service Level Objectives and Indicators to ensure efficiency and reliability across all production systems.
- Participate in troubleshooting, monitoring, and alerting activities, as well as on-call rotations, with tools such as DataDog, Sumo Logic, Azure Monitor, and OpsGenie
- Creates monitoring, alerting, and reporting processes to allow for the identification of issues and trends which will be remediated by implementation of automation to recover from errors without manual intervention.
- Develop and monitor automated infrastructure processes to standardized service delivery and meet regulatory requirements
- Mentor and support members of the Platform Engineering team in technical areas.
- Experience in Agile development processes.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency in modern programming languages.
- Well versed in internet architectures, including web, application, and database components.
- Active Directory/Azure Active Directory administration experience including centralized patch/update management, and service accounts/app registrations.
- Strong knowledge of NSGs, Load Balancers, DNS, CDN, SSL and virtual network concepts.
- Experience with configuration management software such as Chef, Ansible, Bicep, ARM Templates, etc.
- Experience deploying and using DataDog to monitor applications
- Understanding of REST APIs.
- 5+ years working with Microsoft Azure.
- 5+ years of experience working with Linux/Windows systems administration preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with Scripting Frameworks (Python, Bash, Powershell, etc).
- 5+ years of experience with CI/CD and building tools (Jenkins, Teamcity, Octopus Deploy, Github Actions, Azure DevOps, etc).
- Experience using Git in a team environment (merge requests, branching, continuous integration, etc).
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
