Project Manager is a core role and set of competencies in the Program Management Office within IBM Corporate Marketing. We operate within the Experience Engine area and support the marketing stack of tools as well as the projects within the various disciplines. We are tightly coupled with product and project stakeholders and product owners.
As a Project Manager, you’ll work closely with the Product Owner in managing the teamwork, coaching the team and ensuring that the team follow and is properly aligned to Agile principles and practices. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our project teams operate efficiently and effectively while delivering value to our internal customers.
Experience with complex projects and multi-faceted organizations is welcomed. Experience working in a sales or marketing area preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Scrum Facilitation: Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives.
2. Team Empowerment: Coach and mentor cross-functional development teams in adopting and implementing Agile practices and principles, empowering them to self-organize and make data-driven decisions.
3. Collaboration: Foster collaboration and communication among team members, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency, helping the product owner and the team to navigate changes in a fast-paced environment.
4. Obstacle Removal: Identify and help remove impediments that hinder the progress of the development team, escalating issues when necessary to ensure quick resolution.
5. Metrics and Continuous Improvement: Implement metrics to track team performance and use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team productivity and product quality.
6. Servant Leadership: Lead by example, embodying the principles of servant leadership by serving the needs of the team and promoting a culture of trust and respect.
7. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, understand their requirements, and manage expectations to ensure that the product backlog is refined and prioritized effectively.
8. Risk Management: Identify and manage risks that may affect the successful delivery of sprint goals, working proactively to mitigate them.
9. Best Practices: Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in Agile and Project Management, and share knowledge and insights with the team. Work with the Product Owners and Program Manager to ensure consistency of Agile practices across projects teams within the program.
