Job Description

The Fairmont Spa Banff Springs is at the forefront of the spa industry, offering first-class pampering surrounded by majestic mountain beauty. The Treatment Manager is responsible for providing daily leadership of the treatment operations focusing on the consistent delivery of luxury treatments and service excellence. The Treatment Manager will ensure that all revenue opportunities, in keeping with the positioning of Fairmont Spa, will be capitalized upon and all productivity and expense controls are followed.

Job Duties Include:

Reporting to the Spa Director, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Hires, manages, trains, and motivates all service providers through recognition, performance reviews and progressive corrective action of 30 – 40 Therapists
  • Administration and implementation of staff training in all aspects of the spa’s operations, i.e. business telephone usage, guest relations, retail sales, spa services (massage, body scrubs, facials, etc.).
  • Ensure spa departments maintain a positive relationship internally and with all departments in the hotel.
  • Ensure effective scheduling of colleagues to maximize therapist utilization.
  • Direct treatment operations so that the spa operates cost effectively and efficiently.
  • Conduct development and performance management discussions as required in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the establishment and execution of departmental goals.
  • Take a leading role in resolving any and all guest concerns by role modeling professional service delivery.
  • Ensure effective management of facilities to maximize treatment room occupancy.
  • Ensure the spa facilities and treatment rooms are in peak condition at all times (maintenance and cleanliness).
  • Ensure effective and timely communication among all spa departments and throughout the Hotel through weekly/monthly departmental communication meetings.
  • Review daily productivity and approve/submit payroll including provider commissions, incentives and gratuities.
  • Implement monthly retail goals and mange retail incentives for Providers.
  • Implement effective training plans for treatment protocols, product knowledge and retail sales.
  • Ensure inventory management of professional product which includes: monthly count, ordering, receiving, par levels, and dispensing controls.
  • Implement and maintain a purchasing plan for professional supplies/equipment.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the spa menu and treatment protocols, as well as enhancing existing protocols.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of competitors, including location, product offering, pricing, promotions and sales techniques.
  • Ensure adherence of hotel, spa and facility policies.
  • Ensure adherence of standard operating procedures for all providers.
  • Create a visual presence within department for all spa staff via regular facility walk-throughs.
  • Role model and ensure adherence to all safety procedures and practices for spa colleagues.
  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Your Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a guest facing leadership position in spa/hospitality industry is required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Aesthetician and/or Massage Therapist and/or Body Technician
  • Recognized certificate in Massage Therapy. 2,200 hours is an asset
  • Career-minded individual with strong personal initiative and a desire to achieve the department’s vision and goals
  • Book4Time software experience preferred
  • Highly organized, results-oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Energetic individual who is able to prioritize to complete many diverse tasks concurrently
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Successful track record in professionally addressing & resolving difficult and challenging issues at all levels
  • Proven leadership skills, which include coaching, time management, training abilities and strong motivational skills.
  • Ability to develop and encourage an open, stimulating and trusting environment that reflects our Company Mission, Brand Promise and Values
  • Strong Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point).
