What role you will play in our team

 

In this role you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and effectively managing market risks associated with the commodity and derivative business.  Providing oversight and reporting of the price risk exposures incurred by the company’s commercial and trading operations on the Regional Trading desk, supervising a team of Analysts and supporting the Trading Manager and Regional Trading Risk and Compliance Manager.

 

What you will do

 

  • Supervision of the production of key metrics daily and provide timely insights to understand exposures and strategies. Challenge and support the commercial and risk teams with independent views and leading knowledge within the risk management framework
  • Onboarding, Development, Retention and performance management of staff to ensure a consistent high quality and timely delivery within the team
  • Contribute to wider market risk policies, processes and controls. Working as a business partner to Trading enabling the achievement of strategic goals while managing financial risk
  • Advising on the risk impact and exposure associated with new transactions and activities
  • Interact with various trading teams to understand and challenge underlying trading assumptions
  • Contribute to analytical reviews and deliver improvements to market risk processes, models and methodologies
  • Helping to organize and prioritize projects and initiatives, removing impediments and driving them to completion
  • Identify possible solutions and support implementation of wider Trading risk systems and tools to enable analysis
  • Active involvement in the rollout of significant technology projects (e.g., ETRM implementation) This includes defining market risk requirements, setting up use cases, testing the system against the use cases, etc
     

About you

 

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (equivalent or greater) in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative field
  • Specialized in one or more of Oil, Gas, Power or LNG or similar commodity group
  • Significant commercial acumen and understanding of market factors, economic drivers, deal valuation and deal life cycle
  • Strong focus on guiding the team to deliver solutions in an effective and timely manner
  • Track record that exemplifies effective leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment and with others of higher seniority
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to find pragmatic solutions using an analytical mindset and develop supporting documentation
  • Beneficial to have a level of understanding or technical ability in data structures and programming languages
