Electrical Service Engineer (Draglines)

ABB is currently seeking a Service Engineer (Draglines) to kick start their career as a technical expert. The successful candidate will be provided training to safely perform works such as installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and retrofits on Draglines and other Process Automation equipment. You will be driven, customer focused, and have a safety mindset. The role is based in Mackay, Central Queensland and reports the Dragline Team Leader.

Your responsibilities

• Being responsible for technical service and commissioning on ABBs install base of Draglines, primarily in QLD. This includes the Control System, Drives, Motors/Generators, and all associated sub-systems
• Conducting repairs, identifying technical problems, and analyzing them remotely or on-site.
• Preparing detailed service reports, investigations, and machine audit reports
• Identifying potential equipment failures and taking corrective actions, troubleshooting complex equipment failures, and making recommendations to avoid the problem in the future
• Ensuring that Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) practices are of high standard
• Travelling to site 3-4 days per week and be based in the ABB office in Mackay for the remainder. There will be occasional longer trips to site especially during shutdowns and Commissioning. There will be opportunities to earn Time in Lieu or be paid overtime for extra hours invoiced to customers

Your background

• Australian Electrical License is mandatory for this role
• Work experience in similar field (ideally Draglines or Shovels) will be highly regarded
• Understanding of Power Electronics, PLC’s, Control Systems or Rotating Machines and experience in reading and understanding schematics will be beneficial
• Strong computer literacy is required, both in terms of technical software and using Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis and reporting
