Purpose of Position:

The HR Regional Manager is the face of HR in Brazil, reporting directly to the HR VP based in the United States with dotted line to the General Managers in Brazil, and working closely with other business leaders in supporting the business goals, strategies, and personnel in Brazil in addition to the wider HR team with a strong appreciation and ownership of country labor and union requirements. The HR Manager is responsible for developing and coaching the HR team to its full potential and growth.

The role will appeal to someone who is looking for end-to-end local ownership of the employee lifecycle and who has a global mindset.

This role will serve approximately 450 employees located in Belo Horizonte, Florianópolis, Ribeirao Preto and Rio das Ostras

Role Responsibilities:

Leadership

    • Provide leadership, direction and support to the HR teams located in Belo Horizonte and Florianópolis to ensure the achievement of objectives and support their continued growth and development.
    • Take ownership of regional HR programs and policies including contracts, benefits, retirement, on-and offboarding, relocation, etc.; working closely with subject matter experts and external partners as necessary.
    • Challenge the status-quo and further improve our HR processes, procedures, and services.
    • Manage country specific HR administration and programs including the new starter process.

Payroll

  • Manage payroll analysts and oversee payroll systems and processing for four entities.
  • Oversee union salary benchmarking

Employee Relations

  • Manage employee relations topics as they arise and take appropriate measures to determine the root cause and rectify the matter.
  • Review, modify, execute, interpret and administer people policies, using your independent judgment based on our values, methods and procedures.
  • Company representation for all HR matters, interactions with regulatory bodies i.e. reporting, audit, statistics to government, etc.

Management / Business Partnering

  • Partner with business leaders, collaborate with regional and global leadership to understand HR needs related to business goals and strategies.
  • Initiate and present people and culture topics at townhalls, conferences and other key employee touch points.
  • Develop cultural, wellbeing and engagement initiatives in response to the business needs to ensure our client maintains a Great Place to Work culture.
  • Interpret available data and identify potential interventions to continuously improve the workplace and employee experience.
  • Facilitate training as required.
  • Health and safety management in partnership with general managers in Brazil
  • Provide support for merger & acquisitions


Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced English is a must (certification or pre-screen before advancing)
  • Working knowledge and experience with multiple human resource disciplines including compensation, organizational diagnosis and development, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, performance management, and learning and development.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation.
  • 5 -7 years of experience working as a HR leader preferably with experience working in Mining or Global Technology industry.
  • Experience leading a team of professionals and support staff.
  • Strong analytical and Excel and data management skills.
  • Experience working with HR and payroll systems tied to government/union standards.

  • Ability to communicate concepts by adjusting messaging to the audience.

Travel:

  • 25-30% travel (depending on the work location)
