This role aligns to the Central region

The RVP, Sales will have full ownership and responsibility to develop and execute market strategies for the assigned market segment, including expanding individual Account Executive effectiveness and achieving overall sales goals.  The RVP is responsible for all phases of the sales process through finalist presentation and signed contract, ensuring that the region and individual Account Executive(s) meet or exceed goals, providing strategic and consultative direction to support Hodges-Mace objectives. Key contacts will include prospective clients, brokers, channel partners and internal teams. Specific priorities include:

  • Profitable attainment of regional top line revenue goal

  • Territory development plan & strategy that ensures annual top line revenue growth for his/her region in line with overall company objectives

  • Sales team development plan & strategy that ensures appropriate coverage in the territory, leading to goal achievement

The RVP, Sales should view their role as the franchise owner for sales in their geographic footprint.  In order for the RVP to succeed, this individual must effectively partner with other senior leaders for support in attaining the annual revenue goal.  This individual will ultimately achieve results through others which requires the recruiting, development and management of a high performing sales team. As such, the right individual enjoys building and leading others via performance metrics and goal driven sales. He/she must understand and effectively convey all portions of the business to internal and external stakeholders. This includes leading by example, with sincere commitment to cultivating long-term repeat business relationship, while providing insight into the market and best practices within B2B and broker partnerships.  Managing day-to-day interactions and understanding interdependencies is central to success in this position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the assigned Account Executive team/region; including, forecasting, pipeline management and achievement of regional objectives

  • Maintain advanced level of Alight product and implementation knowledge to guide and assist regional team of Account Executives to become experts in products and services to exceed individual revenue goals

  • Assist regional team, joining advanced-stage sales meetings assisting with closing business partnerships

  • In tandem with Human Resources, recruit and develop prospective sales professionals to ensure full territory coverage throughout the year and to provide resources for future growth opportunities within the territory

  • Coordinate and partner with internal departments to include legal, finance, client management, marketing, HR and technology

  • Provide in-market support for Sales Executives to assist in driving sales and associate development

  • Provide guidance and thought leadership in developing training programs as needed for regional sales team; Identify and communicate training and development needs for existing sales team members to SVP of Sales and HR to ensure appropriate continuous learning occurs to drive improved performance of the sales team within his/her region.

  • Monitor and track Account Executive individual performance – strengths and weaknesses – to clearly communicate evaluations, execute individual development and exceed individual goals

  • Accountable for regional new customer acquisition and financial performance targets

  • Conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings as necessary to provide individual guidance, regional leadership and meet financial objectives

Knowledge and skills required

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop field Account Executives

  • Prior experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders

  • Ability to motivate team members, think on your feet under pressure and have honest, difficult conversations with team members

  • Expresses ideas clearly and effectively to motivate individual or group listeners into action

  • Industry knowledge of employer benefits and benefits administration

  • Prior experience with large account sales defined as 1000 EEs and above

  • Accurate forecasting knowledge and pipeline guidance

  • Familiarity with marketing automation and CRM

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 10+ years of sales and consultation experience

  • 5 years of previous sales team leadership preferred in large account environment

  • Benefits, HCM or SaaS based selling
