The Senior Privacy Counsel will work closely with colleagues in the Alight Global Privacy Office, extended Legal Department and with various business and functional units on a broad range of privacy law matters.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Assisting the Head of Privacy in assessing Alight’s global privacy program and designing and implementing enhancements thereto.

• Assisting the Head of Privacy in assessing Alight’s records management program and designing and implementing enhancements thereto.

• Providing robust legal support for the strategic reviewing, drafting, and negotiating of privacy and data security terms in contracts with business partners and vendors, including data processing agreements and data transfer agreements.

• Providing privacy advice and guidance to business clients with emphasis on technology and product development focusing on Privacy by Design.

• Providing practical, timely, strategic, and high-quality legal advice and counsel on global privacy and data security-related matters across the organization. This includes working closely, collaborating, and coordinating with key stakeholders to advise on applicable privacy and data protection laws, regulations and guidelines affecting Alight's business.

• Researching, analyzing, and keeping current on privacy legal issues and laws, legislation, regulations, and court decisions; identifying and communicating impactful updates to the team.

• Advising on best practices and compliance with global privacy and data protection laws, as well as overseeing legal and regulatory aspects of data collection and use, privacy disclosures and transparency, and related issues.

• Working collaboratively with a broad range of people and functions throughout the organization to develop and maintain strong working relationships across all functional areas to facilitate a partnering-based approach

Qualifications: Required:

• Law Degree, LL.M. or equivalent from accredited institution

• At least 15 years of professional experience, with at least 5 dedicated to privacy and data security

• IAPP Certification(s)

• In-depth knowledge of international, federal, and state laws and regulations regarding privacy and data security, including CCPA and GDPR

• Strong negotiation and communication skills (both oral and written). Ability to communicate legal issues in a clear and understandable manner. Inspires trust and confidence through effective communication and interpersonal skills

• Team player and able to build relationships, both internally and externally, on a global scale

• Strong organization and teamwork skills. Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to motivate others

• A strong commitment to integrity and professionalism and demonstrated passion for excellence

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate’s experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $112,700.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $178,900.00/year (for full time employees). In addition to a base salary, this position may be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentive plans.
