Staff Plant Instrument Engineer
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for Electrical & Instrumentation engineering project management.
Indirectly supervise Electrical &Instrumentation Technicians in maintenance activities
Assist in managing Electrical & Instrumentation spare parts inventory.
Improve operations of existing control systems resulting in higher plant performance.
Ensure plant safety and environmental compliance by proper design and maintenance of safety instrumented systems and environmental control systems to meet all federal, state and corporate regulations.
Estimate project costs accurately to ensure compliance with annual capital budget.
Administer projects assigned during design, construction and start-up including cost control, supervision of contract personnel and internal resources to ensure budget, project operational performance and safety standards are met.
Guide Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians and Process Operators in troubleshooting problems when requested.
Collaborate with Operations supervision to improve existing process operations and reliability.
Contribute in the ongoing development of instrumentation standards that will maximize reliability, design and maintenance efficiency, and minimize required spare parts inventory.
Specializes in the control of the Kynar Monomers and Polymers using distributed control system, programmable logic controllers, safety instrumented systems and variable speed drives with work in other areas of the plant as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline and 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control system design or maintenance in chemical manufacturing or related industry. Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
