In this role you will be responsible for the quality assurance of suppliers in ABB’s AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) division in Spain, ensuring the highest quality and delivery performance for purchased materials. You will manage operational Supplier Quality, on or off-site, ensuring the supplier qualification and development processes are executed in full; drive both corrective and preventive actions with the suppliers, based on maturity and performance and manage the supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute to assuring quality objectives are known and achieved by suppliers, monitoring supplier performance and, in a timely way, driving the incident and complaint resolution via follow up and assessment of 8D problem solving activities.
  • Work with internal team members for supplier qualification and Supplier Performance Evaluation (SPE), monitoring and analyzing suppliers’ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Cost of Poor Quality, initiating necessary actions based on such performance results to achieve the goals and reduce ABB’s failure costs.
  • Implement supplier development activities per the defined strategy, pro-actively identifying gaps, proposing solutions and opportunities for improvement and elimination of root cause(s), including the corresponding processes and methodologies.
  • Review APQP and pre-serial & serial deliverables being early involved to identify potential quality risks and assure that they are reflected in validation test plan for new projects and products.
  • Coordinate and manage, in conjunction with Engineering, the buyoff process for major purchased goods (e.g., complex tooling and stations designed and built by third-party suppliers).
  • Perform quality / process audits, re-audits and performance management at suppliers ensuring the follow-up of agreed actions at the suppliers.

Your background

  • A BA/BS degree (required) in technical or quality degree (preferred).
  • Five years of experience in quality department, working as Supplier Quality Engineer preferably in the automotive or robotics sector. 2 years in automation tooling would be a plus.
  • Sound knowledge of problem solving & corrective action techniques (e.g., 8 Disciplines) and APQP.
  • Knowledge of MS Office products, particularly Excel. Experience with SAP ERP system would be a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and familiar with standard mechanical inspection techniques and tools.
  • Good communication skills, able to work globally and across platforms and business lines.
  • Spanish native and English B2 level.
  • Drivers license valid in Spain and Europe and passport without travel restrictions. Willing to travel up to 50% mostly local, occasional overnight, occasional international.
  • This position can be worked in a hybrid mode, but the person must be able to work in our Burgos’s offices at least 2 times per week (mainly in the short and mid term of the position).
