DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE

  • The main Services of the Subsea Installation Engineer are:
  • Ensure installation engineering activities for the proper execution project scope of work including PLSV load-out and interfaces with the onshore logistic base, umbilical and flexible lines laying and pre-commissioning activities
  • Ensure installation engineering activities for the proper preparation and execution of the project scope of work from FEED phase to the offshore installation campaign.

ACTIVITIES

QHSE

  • Ensure HSE requirements are taken into consideration during installation design and installation phases and that design is approved by Third parties (Certification and/or Classification and/or MWS) when applicable.
  • Ensure that contractor HSE plan is properly bridged with project plan and that contractor implement the necessary prevention means to minimize risk to people and Company/contractor assets, at any time during the installation phase.
  • Participate to the SURF installation risk assessment and following mitigation measures, in close coordination with the contractor risk management team.
  • Liaising closely with the HSE Operation Engineer and Interface and Subsea Production Manager to define whether proper COMOPS/SIMOPS dossier is required before undertaking any UFR offshore activities. When identified, following the COMOPS and SIMOPS dossier preparation by CONTRACTOR. Provide necessary support and assistance for COMOPS / SIMOPS dossier elaborated by COMPANY.
  • Participating in various technical reviews (COMOPS, SIMOPS, Hazids, Hazops, Hira, Project Technical Reviews, Risk
  • Assessments…) and ensuring implementation of recommendations as necessary.

Engineering:

  • Review and validate all relevant Engineering / Qualification / Procurement documentation (procedures, analyses, calculation notes…) related to installation and issued by Subsea Contractors and other Interface Contractors.
  • Ensure that the contractor works as per the project specifications, including Company general specifications and international codes.
  • Check that Engineering / Qualification / Procurement activities related to installation are performed in line with Company General Specifications and issue proper derogations, if required.
  • Liaise with all System Leaders (it means with riser, flowline and umbilical leads for the project) for all system related installation matters as necessary to resolve installation related issues.
  • Check that for all installation activities all documentation is reviewed as required by certification/classification and MWS entities and reporting any shortcomings.
  • On call-out, participate to all testing/trials organized by Contractor that might impact and/or validate installation engineering and installation procedures.
  • To ensure that all necessary installation engineering documents are in place and signed by all relevant parties’ prior starting offshore campaign

Operations:

  • Assist the offshore representatives mobilized on the Marine Spread, mainly PLSV and Construction Vessel, in their understanding of the vessel’s tasks, planning and safety as well as organize appropriate meetings offshore when needed.
  • Follow installation tasks and make sure the installation procedures are duly enforced by Contractor
  • Identify all technical issues that require to be specifically addressed in documentation review or during installation and mobilization progress meetings.
  • Validate when required management of changes (MOC) and NCR issued during offshore campaigns
  • Supervise Contractor's preparations of the offshore campaign in close liaison with his direct reports and the HSE operation engineer
  • Alert about the need for marine spread inspection and, when asked, assisting those inspections to appraise marine spread upgrade plans whenever identified as required.
  • Liaise with any onshore discipline engineer concerned by the technical issues raised during installation preparation.
  • Supply verified information to the reporting system that allows full tracking of installation events either to be used for reporting issue or for mitigation of future change order.
  • Provide inputs to contract correspondence, as necessary and issuing reports and presentations as necessary

Required Experience:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline with MSc or equivalent
  • Good organizational skills and proven ability to organize and set-up an efficient team
  • Sound background in Oil and Gas installations, marine operations and offshore construction.
  • Experience in Design and Installation of Subsea / Deepwater Steel Structures or previous exposure to major subsea EPCI projects.
  • Good knowledge of international marine rules / maritime law / industry standards and general specifications.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, identify critical aspects, propose solutions, lead specialists or third parties, summarize and present complex installation issues including transverse and interfaces matters.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) mandatory
