As a Field Service Engineer for Process Automation Business Area in Shinagawa, Japan, you will be responsible for executing service work with low to medium complexity according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. You will be in close cooperation with customers and other ABB teams, acting as the technical point while delivering quality and satisfying customer service.The local legal entity of this position is ABB K.K.

Your responsibilities

• Working in accordance with ABB procedures using applicable tools
• Submitting job paperwork in a timely fashion immediately following the applicable job assignment
• Working independently to install, modify, test, repair, or inspect company products and equipment including, but not limited to: low voltage and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, protection relays and rotating machinery
• Performing or coordinating complex and diverse engineering activities associated with field projects
• Interpreting technical drawings and schematics and makes changes as necessary in the field to reflect work carried out on site
• Increasing product and technical knowledge through factory or third party training, technical manuals and conventional or non conventional resources
• Troubleshooting and repairing equipment, applying personal knowledge and experience
• Providing technical advice to customers on site and remotely

Your background

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 3 years or more work experience in product & system service function
• Experience as a ship electrician or have experience from shipyards, understanding and interest in marine installations that would be an advantage
• Sound knowledge and hands-on experience of marine systems, including but not limited to low voltage and high voltage switchboard, transformers, protection relays, rotating machinery, inverter/converter
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
• JLPT N1 level of Japanese language with good command of English
• Ability and willingness to travel both domestic and international up to 50% if required
