Compensation Data
Salary starting from $60,000 per year based on skills and experience.
Purpose of the position
The Logistics Specialist will support Hiab’s service districts across the US with stocking proposals to achieve the agreed stock availability targets as well coordinate returns to keep the service inventory current. In addition, the Logistics Specialist will drive & execute improvement initiatives within Services Supply Chain in cooperation with the Regional Distribution Center team in Plainfield, IN.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Track and analyze transportation KPI’s, lead carrier MBR/QBR, support improvements in collaboration with global carriers and the Global Transport team, review carrier invoices and manage transportation claims
- Coordinate information flow between warehouse, carriers and nearby functions such as Sales Support, Global Transport, and Supply Chain teams
- A local key user to perform various system housekeeping activities in SAP Warehouse Management System and TMS (Transport Management System)
- Analyze warehouse KPI’s and work actively with warehouse 3PL to improve performances and quality where necessary. Support management with 3PL invoice validation, assess inventory deviations & claims to manage accountability with the 3PL
- Direct support of the services teams via stocking proposals based on expected parts usage, maintenance of systems to support systematic replenishment for each service district stocking location, as well as perform regular reviews of inventory development and drive a correct return of excess inventory back into the central warehouse. Monitor the 3PL return operations and propose process improvements
- Collaborate with Transportation colleagues in Europe and liaise with the warehouse 3PL, when initiating & executing continuous improvement initiatives such as:
- Optimize packaging of spare parts in order to reduce the materials required, reduce shipping weights, increase handling efficiency, and reduce transport damages
- Support purchasing team with implementation of transport standards for suppliers on how to route our spare parts. Oversite of process improvements for packaging, labeling, documentation, and transportation
- Warehouse system enhancements and automation
- Direct support of Import/Export clearance with transportation carriers
- Basic trade compliance understanding

What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- High School diploma/equivalent required
- Relevant degree (MSc / BSc) in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or other relevant fields preferred
Working experience:
- Relevant global industrial experience (truck, construction machines, mining, agriculture or automotive) is highly valued
- Experiences in inventory management, material planning is highly valued
- Experience from working with improvement methods like Lean/Six Sigma is highly valued
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and driving them to completion
- Experience from an international environment in an operational role requiring day to day problem solving is valued
- Basic trade and compliance understanding for import and export shipments
Skills and competencies:
- Skilled excel user, preferably with knowledge of data studio, SAP, TMS, and other analytical tools
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and remain accountable for responsibilities and deadlines
- General project management and presentation skills with root cause analysis
- Fluent in English and willingness to travel according to needs; including outside the US / to Europe
