About the Role
 

Alight seeks a high-performing Commercial Senior Counsel to join a collaborative Legal & Corporate Affairs Organization. This role will support a rapidly transforming and dynamic business. The focus will be on the growth and development of Alight’s technology and service solutions.

Responsibilities
 

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex technology/subscription and  commercial contracts.
  • Serving as a trusted business partner and legal advisor to drive transformational business initiatives in support of our strategic direction.
  • Providing day-to-day practical, action-oriented advice related to our constantly evolving technology and service solutions.
  • Providing thought leadership and innovation in the development of efficient commercial contracting processes and templates.
  • Absorbing and substantively supporting our technology and service solutions, including relevant industry trends, practices, and risks.
  • Delivering legal guidance and analysis related to potential mergers, acquisitions  and other corporate transactions.
  • Making effective use of technology and automation in the practice of law, including contract management systems.


Requirements
 

  • Possess a Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school and be a member in good standing of the bar in at least one US state.
  • Ability to proactively provide actionable guidance and advice, and sound business-focused solutions.
  • Proficient understanding of data privacy laws and intellectual property concepts related to technology and service solutions.
  • Learning agility, including a demonstrated willingness to develop expertise in new subject matter areas.
  • Detail-orientation and ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • Track record of successful teamwork, exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to senior leadership and successfully impact decision-making.
  • Share our purpose and values, including high ethical standards, teamwork, client service, work ethic and positive attitude.
  • 5+ years in-house experience.
  • Proficient negotiating complex SaaS and other technology-related contracts.
  • Innovative and agile growth mindset to support key transformational projects.
  • Experience negotiating agreements in international jurisdictions is a plus.

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate’s experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $140,900.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $203,300.00/year (for full time employees). In addition to a base salary, this position may be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentive plans.
