Join the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam as our Director of Operations, where you will ensure the seamless management of our luxurious hotel. Collaborate with the General Manager and Department heads to uphold impeccable service, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence. You will drive strategic initiatives, oversee daily operations, and lead a dedicated team to exceed Guest and Team Member expectations. Ideal candidates will have a proven luxury hotel experience, a passion for guest interaction, strong commercial acumen, and exceptional leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Successful candidates have a proven track record in:

  • Operational Leadership:
    • You will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, spa, engineering and other guest services.
    • You will ensure the highest standards of service and guest satisfaction are consistently maintained.
  • Strategic Management:
    • You will collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement short-term and long-term operational strategies.
    • You will lead key property projects, including renovations, capital improvements, and new service initiatives.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management:
    • You will assist in the preparation and management of the hotel's annual budget.
    • You will monitor departmental budgets, control costs, and analyze financial performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Team Development and Leadership:
    • You will provide effective leadership and support to department heads and their teams.
    • You will foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professional development, and career growth.
    • You will implement succession planning to ensure the continuity of high-quality management.
  • Guest Experience:
    • You will ensure all guest interactions are handled with the utmost professionalism and hospitality.
    • You will actively seek and respond to guest feedback to continually enhance the guest experience.
    • You will be a visible presence in the hotel, engaging with guests to ensure their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • You will ensure compliance with hotel and company service standards and operational procedures.
    • You will regularly review and respond to audit findings to drive continuous improvement.
  • And finally Communication and Coordination:
    • You will hold regular meetings with department heads to ensure clear communication and alignment on hotel goals and initiatives.
    • You will serve as a key point of contact for all operational matters, facilitating collaboration across departments.

What Are We Looking For?

To successfully fill this role, you must possess the following qualifications, attitude, behaviors, skills, and values:

  • Experience in luxury hotels, including relevant experience as a Director of Operations or Hotel Manager in a luxury hotel
  • Passion for interacting with guests
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Forbes 4 or 5-star standards
  • Strong commercial acumen, preferably with experience as (Assistant) Food and Beverage Manager and/or Rooms Management
  • Experience in managing budgets, revenue proposals, and forecasting results
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate the team to achieve high performance and exceed targets
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Accountability and resilience
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A degree or diploma in Hotel Management or a related field
  • Fluent English. Proficiency in multiple languages is considered a plus
