You have the power to shape things and individuals to make them better.About the Role:As the E manager – Water Stewardship, you will provide guidance and technical support to the Brazilian operating locations on State and Federal policy and other regulatory requirements, corporate standards and systems requirements and external benchmarking as it relates to Water Stewardship. You will also support locations to assess compliance performance against requirements of their operating licenses and water operating strategies, and where necessary, assist to identify and implement technically sound monitoring, management and mitigation strategies. You will support effective and consistent deployment of Alcoa’s water standard across locations and define a regional water risk management/stewardship program, including water use reduction targets, in consultation with location leadership that supports Alcoa’s sustainability goals. Finally, you will provide hydrogeological technical advice to sites including assistance in reviewing groundwater and surface water data, third party reports and contaminated sites data and reports where appropriate.Other key responsibilities include: Track and interpret the external regulatory and political environment including federal and state environmental legislative changes and changes in government policy with particular emphasis on water, including contamination assessments and remediation process.Identify potentially applicable environmental headwinds, raising concerns and challenges to internal stakeholders for further attention. Support the development of negotiation, gap analysis, multidisciplinary plans and compliance strategies to mitigate or address these risks.Form an overarching view of performance across Brasil, identify gaps and risks and lead action to address the gaps and manage risks. Lead locations towards consistent application of corporate mandatory standards and external regulatory requirement including licensing, operating strategies and high-quality reporting.Maintain oversight of and coordinates regional level interactions with government agencies and consultants to ensure Alcoa meets the requirements of relevant regulations.Maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise by actively seeking out new technologies and methodologies for water management and Water Stewardship.Drive targeted water improvement initiatives and facilitate best practice sharing through collaboration with internal customers, industry bodies and government agencies.Manage the technical scopes of the regional environmental water monitoring contracts, ensuring contracts fulfil the requirements of each operating location’s license and internal management processes.Engage with location environmental teams to enable the successful deployment of global corporate systems and programs.Assist in coordination of Corporate and regulatory compliance reporting processes, ensuring data are accurate and reports are written to a high standard.Provides technical advice across the relevant subject matter to the Regional Environmental Director, regional leadership and broader business including Large Projects, Impoundments, Asset Management, Approvals and Planning COEs.Work alongside the Global Program Manager – Water and engage with location environmental teams to enable the successful deployment of global corporate systems and programs.What you can bring to the role:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Environmental Sciences;Fluent English;Solid experience in environmental management, including significant background in water accounting and stewardship;Previous experience in a heavy industrial/manufacturing/mining and/or regulatory environment;Proven knowledge of and experience in relevant legislation relevant to the effective and sustainable management of surface and groundwater in industrial and mining processes;Domestic Travel – 35 – 50%, potential for international travel;Job Location – Negotiable, but within Brazil.What’s on offer:Flexibility First – Hybrid work agreement;Competitive remuneration and benefits packages;Performance related bonus (variable);Telemedicine and telenutrition;Recognition as one of the Best Companies to Work For by Great Place to Work;Recognized by Guia Exame de Diversidade as one of the companies with the best practices related to inclusion, equity, gender, ethnicity, race, People with Disabilities and LGBTQIA+ people.Applications close:April, 2nd #LI-KS1
