Global Tax is responsible for tax governance and tax risk management, global tax planning, tax reporting and accounting and support to the business. Moreover, the global tax team is responsible for the global tax affairs of Vopak as well as being the local tax department for the Netherlands.
What will you do as an Indirect Tax Manager?
You will be part of the tax team consisting of five (including one colleague also focusing on Indirect Taxes) who are responsible for the global tax position. The Indirect Tax Manager will report to the Senior Indirect Tax Manager. The Indirect Tax Manager will act as a subject matter expert being able to provide Indirect Tax advice on all types of business matters nationally and internationally.

What do we expect from you as an Indirect Tax Manager?
University degree in Dutch Tax Law or Tax Economics.
2-5 years experience in national and international Indirect Tax at an international accounting or law firm or in-house at a multinational.
Experience in Indirect Taxes (preferably VAT); and willingness to expand knowledge to other Indirect Taxes (payroll tax, real estate taxes, environmental taxes and customs).
Affinity with and interest in Indirect Tax technology. Experience in tax automation and/or with Oracle is considered a plus.
Analytical thinker, practical approach, able to understand the complex business and business processes.
Hands-on, team player, ability to translate complex tax issues to the business.
Fluent in Dutch and English.
What does your day look like?
As an Indirect Tax Manager at Vopak, your day involves providing expert guidance on national and international Indirect Tax matters, supporting decision-making processes, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. You'll collaborate closely with the tax team, assisting in IT projects, tax audits, and maintaining the Indirect Tax control framework. Additionally, you'll play a key role in creating VAT awareness, delivering training, and offering solutions to various business units and stakeholders.
What are the responsibilities?
Pro-actively support and advise the management of the Dutch companies and the shared service center in their decisions on Indirect Tax:
the impact of Indirect Taxes on business transactions;
risk, exposure and issue management with respect to Indirect Taxes; and
tax provisions in contracts.
Assist Business Units and local management in executing their Indirect Tax obligations.
Assist in IT projects with respect to the Indirect Tax processes (e.g. supplier/customer master data, tax engine, tax reporting and e-invoicing).
Assist in tax audits.
Monitor and maintain the Indirect Tax control framework.
Work with tax colleagues and other corporate functions to identify, evaluate and implement value adding projects.
Create VAT awareness; provide training, guidance, support and solutions to the business (e.g. operation companies, the shared service center and other departments & internal staff members).
Prepare yearly corrections for Dutch VAT and payroll tax.
Advise on real property tax and payroll tax (and other Indirect Taxes that may come up).
Assess Indirect Tax risks and exposures and initiate practical and workable solutions to solve them.
Liaise with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
