Job Overview:

Our VP Insurance Business Development will be responsible for proactively driving life, LTC and DI insurance sales within the Western US Territory serving both LPL institutional clients and independent advisors with a particular focus on larger permanent life cases. As the VP of Insurance Business Development, you will engage with LPL advisors to uncover insurance opportunities through book and policy reviews as well as provide point of sales support.

This position will also function as an informal leader within our Insurance sales team. Responsibilities include regular contact with other LPL insurance team professionals (including internal sales consultants and case managers) as well as building relationships with LPL stakeholders across other disciplines (e.g., Financial Planning, Private Client, Sales Channel leaders). Assistance will be needed periodically for onboarding larger producing groups or advisors and working with LPL’s recruiting efforts to educate new recruits on the LPL Insurance offering.

Some of the activities and strategies that will be used to successfully grow insurance include:

  • Proactive outreach: 1:1 meetings, small to mid- size group meetings, prospecting phone calls, targeted sales campaigns, webinars and client events.

  • Point of sale support: Help advisors close business with end clients on phone calls and in person meetings

  • The role will be approximately 75% field-based and 25% phone/video work. The phone work will consist primarily of proactively reaching out to advisors across the LPL advisor population in order to build relationships, help advisors identify opportunities and drive LPL Insurance sales.

  • The field work will primarily consist of face to face advisor meetings, small group meetings, LPL workshops/conferences and some larger group settings.

Responsibilities:

  • The position requires extensive phone and video call work that will include making daily outbound sales calls to help advisors increase their Insurance Business. This includes methodical profiling, book reviews, policy reviews and consistent outreach and follow-up, and targeted marketing campaigns.

  • This position will require hosting and presenting on conference calls and webinars in order to drive sales results. This role requires the ability to match style, tone and pace with many different types of advisors across various experience levels.

  • The position will offer point of sales support to advisors with their clients to help close business

  • This position involves tracking large cases and proactively working with the team and the advisor to move cases to closing.

  • The position requires extensive travel to LPL advisor office, branches, seminars and conferences and to advisor and institutional meetings.

  • This position will partner with management, the sales organization, LPL departments and our insurance carriers to drive forward the business plan to achieve sales goals.

  • This position will assist other business units with insurance-related questions and requests, as needed. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on life insurance.

  • The position will participate in various departmental projects, when assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Series 6 (or 7) and 63, Life Insurance license required

  • 5+ years life insurance sales or brokerage experience (BGA experience preferred)

Preferences:

  • CLU, ChFC, or CFP, or willingness to obtain

  • Proven track record of sales success

  • Excellent phone communicationand interpersonal skills required

  • Self-starter, detail oriented and process focused

  • Self-disciplined, with the ability to be proactive with strong follow-up mentality

  • Winflex, Ensight or other multiple insurance carrier illustration systems

  • Ability to Interact well with all departments inside of LPL Financial

  • Presentation and business planning experience required

  • Ability to handle high volume and fast paced environment

Pay Range:

80,000-120,000/year Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location. This position is also eligible to earn sales incentive compensation.
